Better Is Possible

Hello,

My name is Justin Slocum, and I'm running for Wheat Ridge City Council District 3. I believe our community's voice matters, and I'm committed to ensuring it's heard. My platform focuses on bringing fiscal responsibility and government accountability back to Wheat Ridge.

I'm a hands-on problem-solver with a background in mechanics, having worked my way up to management in the construction industry and with the State of Colorado. While I've learned tough lessons along the way, these experiences have made me a better leader.

My family has deep roots in the community; my great-grandparents moved to 6380 W 47th Ave, Wheat Ridge in 1951. My great-grandfather, a boilermaker, helped build the old steam engine that ran around Lakeside. Additionally, my great-great uncle was involved in the local newspaper printing business, contributing to the development of color printing processes.

Professionally, I've worked as a mechanic in heavy equipment construction since 1996, quickly advancing due to my skills. I was recruited by other companies and eventually rose to management in a privately owned construction company. In that role, I was responsible for equipment management, talent development, logistics, and cultivating revenue-generating services to reduce overhead costs.

I attended Arvada Jr. High School and graduated from Arvada Senior High School. My family also owns and operates an Italian Market & Deli in Arvada, which was started by my grandmother in 1984 and passed down to my mother who has run the business for more than 20 years. I play a significant role in the management and operational readiness of this business.

I feel it is important to bring our community together and through a truly bipartisan approach to politics we can achieve greatness.
